The Império do Espírito Santo da Casa da Ribeira, located in the parish of Santa Cruz, Praia da Vitória, was built in 1888. It celebrates the feast of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost and Trinity Sundays. The festivities begin with processions of the Holy Spirit to the church, followed by a sung mass and coronation. After the liturgy, the crowns are deposited in the empire, where the priest blesses bread and wine distributed to those present. The emperors and guests proceed to a meal at the Recreational Society of Casa da Ribeira, with soup, meat, and sweet rice. In the afternoon, there is a fair with snacks and auctions. At night, there are lights, a bazaar, and cultural events, such as folk music. The stewards for the next year are chosen during the festivities. The celebrations may end with a bullfighting event.
